ITHACA, Mich. –Gratiot Agricultural Professional Services (GAPS) hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for its new Agronomy Center and Dry Fertilizer Facility in Fowler on Wednesday, March 18.

 

More than 100 guests attended the reception, including clients, associates and local agricultural leaders.

 

The celebration coincided with National Agriculture Day, which is organized by the Agriculture Council of America.

 

“We are proud to be a local company servicing our local growers,” GAPS owner Rob Blackwell said.  

“We will be right in their backyard.  The growers will not have to wait and depend on their dry fertilizer to come from 20 to 40 miles away.  GAPS will be able to supply all of their fertilizer inputs along with custom blending.”

 

The nearly 10,000-square-foot facility stores 2,500 tons of dry fertilizer in five bins.  Its high-speed blender can unload 3.5 tons in just one minute. 

 

Farmers may pick up their own dry fertilizer or GAPS offers delivery and custom application options. 

 

The building has several environmentally friendly features.  It is believed to be the first dry fertilizer facility constructed in Clinton County since 1963.
